Jay (Marty) Tenenbaum, PhD, is the founder and chairman of Cancer Commons, a nonprofit network of patients, physicians and scientists that identifies the best options for treating an individual’s cancer then refines the community’s collective knowledge based on each patient’s response. A computer scientist, internet commerce pioneer and cancer survivor, Tenenbaum founded and led several companies throughout his career. Among these, he was founder and CEO of Enterprise Integration Technologies, the first company to conduct a commercial internet transaction; founder of CommerceNet; co-founder of Veo Systems; and founder and chairman of CollabRx.
For his work on behalf of melanoma patients, Tenenbaum has received several honors including the Melanoma Research Foundation’s Legends for a Cure Humanitarian Award. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from MIT and a doctorate from Stanford University.
